The formalwear swim happened on Sunday and was a blast! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves, but here are some highlights:
- About 35 people showed up, including volunteer photographers and journalists from two local papers!
- As we lined up poolside a lifeguard walked toward us. As, umm… “someone” heard him say “Guys, sorry but I don’t think it’s…” that someone yelled “3… 2… 1….JUMP!” and the crowd splashed into the 68 degree water. It felt great!
- The group was told to go down toward shallower water (where it would be safer for us to swim) but a lifeguard came over to kick us out of the pool. I’m not sure of his reasoning but I didn’t object. Everything happened perfectly.
- Some of us covertly changed into bathing suits and stuck around, some went 50 feet away to a free public swimming area and others went home. All of us had fun!
The formalwear swim was great. It went from idea to execution with press coverage in under one week and brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of people at Zilker Park. Now for the photos. Click to expand and scroll through!
